Flash Flooding near Belize Dive Resort

Flash flooding on June 01, 2008 was quite a surprise to everyone living in the Stann Creek District of Belize. Most residents had never seen such water levels in their lifetime. Hamanasi's gardens and walkways were temporarily turned into rivers. Luckily though, the water receded as quickly as it had come. the next day, the water was only puddles, and power and water were restored to the hotel by early afternoon. Hamanasi is back to normal operations 100%.

Unfortunately, many nearby villages and residents were not as lucky. Ongoing relief efforts in the area have rallied the community and support from across Belize. Hamanasi is continuing to send linens, clothing, school supplies, and food items to Sittee River and Hope Creek, the villages hit the hardest by the flooding. Many people lost all of their belongings.
