Isani Palacio on his way to School

The Manasi Project, founded by 15-year-old Nicholas Brownrigg in 2014, brings hope to children who are in need of financial assistance, for their much needed education. Nicholas and his parents, Sandra and Ryc Brownrigg have been coming to Hamanasi Resort since 2010.

Manasi means “respect” in the local Garifuna language. “We hope to build a worldwide culture of mutual respect by improving educational opportunities everywhere”, says Nicholas.

This year the Manasi Project donated US$1000 to sponsor a 1 year scholarship for the 1st year of High School in Belize.   The monies covered the tuition fee, school books, full uniform and all the necessary school items.

After consulting and getting recommendations from the Holy Family Hopkins School teachers, the decision was made to give the scholarship to Isani Palacio, a 13 year old boy, born and raised in the village of Hopkins. Isani comes from a single mother home and has 3 siblings.

With the assistance received, Isani is now attending the Ecumenical High School located in Dangriga town. He is very appreciative of the scholarship and promises to excel so that he can continue further his education.

A million thanks to Nicholas and his family for being a part of our Hopkins community.
