COVID-19 Information

The Government of Belize requires all international arrivals to meet certain COVID-19 health requirements for entry into the country. Effective March 1, 2022, fully vaccinated travelers with proof of vaccination no longer require a negative COVID-19 test for entry.  If the traveler is unvaccinated or unable to show proof of vaccination, the traveler must present proof of a COVID negative result from an approved test.  PCR test results are accepted within 72 hours of arrival and Rapid Antigen tests are accepted within 48 hours of arrival.  If you do not have proof of a valid negative test, a rapid test can also be done upon arrival at the Belize Philip Goldson International Airport for $50 USD per person.

Hamanasi has partnered with local medical providers to provide convenient Covid rapid antigen testing on property for $75 USD per person.  These test results are CDC compliant for entering the USA.  Furthermore, we have implemented many steps to ensure the wellbeing of our guests, employees and communities. Hamanasi applauds the great strides made by the Government of Belize and the tourism sector to ensure travelers, employees and communities are safe.

Additionally, as of February 15, 2022, the government of Belize requires all visitors to purchase Belize Travel Insurance at the cost of $18 USD per person.

Staying at Hamanasi in the Time of COVID-19

We do recognize that cases of COVID-19 are still widespread worldwide with devastating consequences.  Our team shares the deepest concern for those affected either directly or indirectly by the ongoing threat of this disease. We hope that you and your family are safe and well.  Vaccines are helping to protect individuals and fight the spread of this virus, but we must remain vigilant to new variants as they arise.  When you are ready to travel again, everyone at Hamanasi will do our upmost to ensure your safety and health and to provide a much needed respite.

At Hamanasi, we provide authentic connections to nature, starting with our design. As a boutique hotel, we practice social distancing naturally with just 30 rooms on a large property. Our many private treehouses are spaced out within the coastal forest and our beachfront rooms all have separate outdoor entrances. Most of our public spaces are open to fresh air and warm Caribbean breezes. Our first priority, as it has always been, is the continued wellness and safety of our guests and employees.  We are taking a number of additional health and safety measures including mask wearing, enhanced cleaning, social distancing and more.  Hamanasi abides by the Belize Government’s guidelines and COVID-19 protocols.

The Government of Belize has implemented new procedures for travel in Belize.

Your departure:
For travelers from the USA:  As of Jan 26th 2021, the The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requires that all passengers arriving in the United States have a negative COIVD-19 test.  Effective November 11, 2021, U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) who are eligible to travel but are not fully vaccinated will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test one (1) day before their flight’s departure. U.S citizens and LPRs who are fully vaccinated will need to present airlines with proof of vaccination  and of a negative COVID-19 test three (3) days before their flight.  Children under 2 years old do not need to test.  There are also accommodations for people who have documented recovery from COVID-19 in the past 90 days.  Learn more about the US requirements here.  NOTE: These guidelines may change without notice.  Please check back frequently for updated information!

Hamanasi partners with local medical providers to have rapid antigen tests done at Hamanasi for US $75 per person.  These tests comply with the CDC requirement and can be arranged while at Hamanasi.  Please note, that if you test positive for COVID-19, the Belize Ministry of Health will be alerted, and you will be required to quarantine at your own expense in a Gold Standard Hotel.

We recognize that some of these guidelines may seem onerous and uncomfortable.  They are in place to ensure the safety and health of all.  Through all this Hamanasi will continue to provide our gracious hospitality, small intimate experiences and regenerative practices.  We can all continue to grow and find deep meaning in travel.
