Silk Grass Farms takes its name from the resilient Silk Grass community, a settlement formed after Hurricane Hattie devastated Belize in 1961. The area, and the farm, are named after the striking bunches of silk grass that grow across the country. These are plants that not only define the landscape, but also help combat climate change by storing carbon in their roots and the soil.
Based in Southern Belize, Silk Grass Farms uses regenerative agriculture to grow diverse crops like coconuts, cacao, citrus, and more—while protecting nearby rainforests. However, they are popularly known for their line of pure, natural coconut products. All coconuts are grown without harmful herbicides and pesticides. Their energy-efficient processing facility adds value onsite, supports local jobs, and keeps production eco-friendly.
From cold-pressed coconut oil and juices to raw honey, fruit purees and natural skincare, Silk Grass products are found in stores and homes across Belize. Profits help fund the Silk Grass Wildlife Preserve, which protects 24,500 acres of rainforest habitat. You can stay tuned for upcoming conservation projects and farming innovations at Silk Grass Farms!
