Getting Here

Once you arrive in Belize, the easiest and fastest way to get to Hamanasi is via an approximately 2-hour ground transfer on newly paved roads.  Alternately, you can take a connecting flight from the Belize City international airport (BZE) to Dangriga.  At this time our recommended option is to book a full ground transfer from BZE to Hamanasi in one of our sanitized tour vans.  This is included in most of our packages.  However, our reservation staff can also help arrange a connecting flight to Dangriga airstrip through our airline partner Maya Air.  Read below for more details on getting to Hamanasi, including driving yourself if you are feeling a bit adventurous.

Fly into Belize International Airport (BZE)

All international flights land at the Philip Goldson International Airport in Belize City (BZE).  A ground transfer to Hamanasi is fasted.  However, if you wish to fly to Dangriga, we recommend that you schedule your international flight to arrive by 4pm in order to make sure you can arrive at Hamanasi on the same day.  Later arriving flights may require a ground transfer or an overnight stay in Belize City.  Please be sure to buy travel insurance to cover unexpected or unavoidable changes in your travel plans.  Airlines currently servicing BZE include:

  • Air Canada via Toronto

Then Connect to Ground Transportation or a Domestic Flight

  1. The Hamanasi reservations team can arrange private transportation from the international airport, for a scenic 2-hour drive in one of our sanitized tour vans.  During the trip you’ll have great views of the countryside, so keep your camera handy!  With newly paved roads this is our current recommended, quickest option and is included in most of our packages.
  2. Alternately, you can connect to Dangriga airstrip on Maya Air or Tropic Air. Our staff can also arrange this flight for you, as well as an airport transfer from Dangriga to Hamanasi. The flight time for your connecting flight is approximately 20 minutes, typically in a 14-passenger plane.  Note that the wait times for domestic connecting flights are longer and less predictable and luggage delays are also possible.  Please be sure to take any valuables and medications in the cabin with you rather than in your checked luggage. Ask our reservations team for more information.  There is a $25 USD up-charge per person per flight to/from Dangriga with most Hamanasi packages.
