We stayed in the Deluxe Tree House surrounded by the rainforest and steps away from the beach and the main house. I could not have dreamed up Hamanasi. The kind of place you don't want to leave when you are there, and dream of returning to when you get back home. We loved the personal attention and assistance at our meals and activities, which included the best horseback riding, the best snorkeling and the best visit to a Mayan ruin. A wild and beautiful place, captured one afternoon as I walked along the beach and was passed by two village boys galloping down the coast on their horses. We ate all our meals at the main lodge, and they were all excellent. Local dance/drums night was a special treat. No surprise that many guests were on return visits.
As so many others have stated, Hamanasi is in a class all its own. We spent 8 nights in a beachfront plus room, which gave us exceptional comfort for our family of 4 (we have two boys, ages 9 and almost 11). We booked a Reef and Rainforest package, and were absolutely blown away with our experience. We felt so well cared for during our stay, on so many levels. The grounds are impeccable. Hamanasi has preserved much of the native tree canopy, which not only provides a beautiful backdrop for the resort but also provides homes for many species of birds as well as a sizeable troop of Coatis, which are fun to watch. The grounds crew rakes the property each morning, a level of care that is just astounding. The restaurant on site provides great options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the menu proved to be varied and delicious throughout our stay. For excursions that included meals, the coordination and attention to detail was very impressive, and the meals themselves were tasty. The guide staff was truly the highlight, though. We did snorkeling, birding, canoeing, toured Mayan sites, cave tubing, and did a night hike through the jungle. All of them were super fun, and we felt the enthusiasm of the guides on all of them. I'm a bird nerd, and was able to capture 72 species of birds on our one day birding and around the property. I could go on at length, but suffice it to say that we had an amazing experience that did not disappoint. Kudos to the entire staff, and we hope to visit again.
We had a great experience at Hamanasi. I’ve read through a lot of other reviews and agree with the positive comments about the rooms and the staff. I wanted to add some additional points that I think others may have missed. We were very happy with all the meals. My wife and I preferred not to eat in the restaurant for breakfast and wanted something lighter as well. The staff had no issue packing me a to-go container of fresh cut fruit and I grabbed some breads (muffins, johnny cakes, banana bread…) and coffee to take back to our treehouse. We thought the portions for dinner were good for a three-course meal. I always had room for dessert (the chef’s choice varied each day). I left full but not stuffed. I do want to point out that on our first night, they said if we wanted half-portions or up-sized servings that they would accommodate us. I don’t want those with big appetites to think they will be hungry. They also served bread of the day with dinner which varied daily. The other thing I want to emphasize is the small group sizes for the excursions. On one snorkel trip, our boat went out with eight people, and we split into groups of four with both groups having a dive master. On my second snorkel trip, it was threatening rain, so several guests dropped out. They still took the boat out with just two of us. For the land adventures, both of ours started at 8:00 am. This allowed us to avoid crowds and still have a big part of the day left for relaxing after we returned. For the Mayflower Waterfall Hike, we staggered two vans from Hamanasi. My group had seven people with two guides. We reached the top of the hike and had the swimming pool all to ourselves. For the Cave Tubing (this was extra), just my wife and I went. This was a destination that the cruise ships also hit, but we arrived and were the only people in the parking lot. We actually trekked into the caves to explore and swam through some caverns, so this was much more than a leisurely tube drifting through the caves, and most of it was done without anyone else around. Many of the guides and staff have worked for Hamanasi many years, so it feels like they treat their employees well and that is important to us.
This resort was amazing. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The ground are gorgeous. The food is so flavorful and portioned so that you never feel overfull. The extrusion ( called adventures) are fun and interesting. And the diving they take you on was amazing. I highly recommend this resort.
My father and I decided to go on a vacation. I wanted something relaxing with being fully inclusive for us both. We went on a few tours, the Mayan Ruins was amazing. The guides were so informative and so friendly, what a beautiful place. We also went on a scuba dive and all of the guides were so happy to help. My father had a bit of a hard time, and the guide spent so much time with him to make sure he was comfortable. Every single person was so kind, they paid extreme attention to detail to everything we were doing, where we were going ect. And lastly, every employ knew our names, they always greeted us by name. It’s a wonderful place. Very beautiful. Food was amazing. And they take very good care of the property.
This place was an incredible experience. My wife and I went here for our honeymoon. We were there for 10 days. By the 2ne day, everyone at the resort knew our names. They had champagne in our room when we arrived and we're very accommodating. The scuba staff was super professional and helped open our eyes to the wonders of the ocean and the reef life. The dive masters had go pro's to help capture the amazing moments, as well as dive computers to help us stay safe. We had a blast and can't wait to come back!
Our family of 5 couldn’t have been more blessed to have stayed here on our 1st trip to Belize. Everything was incredible from the food to the adventures to the culture and the staff, literally everything. Axel was an exceptional guide! Ems was a wonderful guide on the hikes as well! We have been to many places around the world with our children and this was one of the best trips we have ever experienced. Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef was magical and the attention to detail of eco friendliness was next level. We can’t wait to come back!
Our new favorite resort!
We’ve been to Hamanasi twice. The first time was truly a magical experience that left us wanting to return in the near future. As we prepared for our second visit, we were hopeful that our first experience had not been a fluke nor that we had romanticized the experience. We can definitely confirm that the experience was not a fluke or romanticized. It truly is a magical experience. The rooms are spacious with lots of natural light and so much attention to detail. The beds are the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in away from home. In fact, they are so comfortable that we reached out to guest services and found out the brand so we could purchase one for ourselves. Further, as Hamanasi prides itself on environmental sustainability, it was such a pleasant surprise to learn that the beds they use are all made from organic materials! The views are spectacular. We’ve stayed in rooms 2 and 9, both upstairs on the beachfront. To wake up in the morning, step outside on the balcony, which has chairs and a swing, and see, hear, and feel the sea, is breathtaking. The rooms are cleaned daily and there is a turn down service in the evenings. The resort is incredibly quiet, apart from children in the pool, but they’re enjoying themselves and that is fantastic. The grounds are always kept immaculate. We see grounds keeping sweeping and raking the sand every morning to remove fallen leaves and tracks. The pool is cleaned every night as well. You can walk the grounds and be surrounded by towering palms, ferns, and all manner of vegetation. There are numerous coatimundi, agouti, pelicans, birds, and there is a pond that houses crocodiles. The service personnel are extremely friendly and ready to provide you with information, guidance, and cater to your needs with a genuine smile and friendliness. The onsite restaurant is amazing. The food is cooked to order and we’ve had some of the finest meals at this restaurant. From steaks, fish, chicken, vegetarian, there is always something available for any diet. If you need something, you simply ask. They also take your food allergies seriously and confirm your allergies during your first meal to ensure accuracy. Apart from the quality and quantity of the food, the service is beyond measure. Servers know you by name, remember previous conversations, are always quick to engage in conversation if you initiate it, provide attention to detail, and are very friendly. They have so many excursions, we wished we had the time to do them all. We’ve gone snorkeling, bird watching, canoeing, and visited Mayan ruins. Each and every time we went on an excursion, we felt that it wasn’t just an experience but an opportunity to learn. Every guide is so thoroughly knowledgeable about the experience that definitely felt like we learned so much. From the guided snorkeling, yes, a guide directed our snorkeling group where he dove down, pointed at things (fish, sharks, rays, corral) and then surfaced to tell us what we were looking at, to the Mayan ruins tour where our guide, Mayan by ancestry, wove the history with compelling discourse. Sensational experiences. The resort is located near the community of Hopkins, about 2 hours from the airport in Belize City. We ventured into the community on several occasions and found the residents to be friendly and willing to answer questions. There are several grocery stores, numerous restaurants (we highly recommend Ella’s if you’re in town and get hungry), and many opportunities for other excursions such as deep sea fishing. We are already planning our next visit!
Best vacation ever! Hamamasi Resort is fantastic. The staff is always happy and ready to assist you with whatever you need. The adventures are top notch and the guides are very knowledgeable about where you are and what you are seeing. The food is spectacular and the staff will work with you regarding allergies or dietary needs. We are definitely going back for more fun and adventures.
Hamanasi provided the most amazing honeymoon experience from start to finish. The service is truly top-tier, the property is gorgeous, and the amazing experiences were unforgettable. Huge shout-outs to the incredible staff who went above and beyond: France and Densel who helped me regain the confidence to get back in the water and scuba diving! Mr. Bol was a wealth of fascinating information on Mayan culture and instantly made us feel at home. And thank you to Phil, Juan, and the bar team for keeping the great drinks flowing along with even better conversations and brain teasers.
