CONSIDERATIONS FOR PLANNING YOUR WEDDING

What will you wear? Remember this is the tropics.
Light clothing, simple make-up, insect repellent and
non high-heel shoes can make your day much more
comfortable.

Type of ceremony (religious or non denominational)

Number of guests (do you have witnesses, or do you
require Hamanasi to provide?)

Cake – What type of cake will you want? (Vanilla,
Chocolate, Lemon, Carrot or Coconut)

Will you be having a rehearsal dinner or reception
after the ceremony? Do you have any dietary
requirements that you need to advise Hamanasi of in

Payment: Hamanasi requires an advance deposit of 50% at the time of booking your wedding. Full pre-payment due no later than 45 days prior to arrival. We do not offer refunds for cancellations made less than 45 days prior to arrival.

Please remember you need to be in the Country at least 4 business days prior to applying for a marriage license. The day of arrival does not count. So it's best to plan your stay in Belize for at least a week. Longer is definitely better!

REQUIREMENTS FOR GETTING MARRIED IN BELIZE
IF NEITHER OF THE PARTIES HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY MARRIED:
- Fully completed marriage license application form - Notarized by a Justice of the Peace.
- Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into
Belize.
Both of the parties must be in the country 4 business days prior to filing the petition
of the license. The day of arrival does not count. We can file the petition on the
4th day.
IF EITHER PARTIES OR BOTH HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY MARRIED:
- Fully completed marriage license application form - Notarized by a Justice of the Peace
- Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into Belize.
- Two of the parties must be in the country 4 days prior to filing the petition of the license. The day of arrival does not count.
Final divorce decrees. Must be an original document with the Court’s stamp or seal
and original signature. Copies will NOT be accepted.
IF EITHER OR BOTH PARTIES IS A WIDOW OR WIDOWER:
- Fully completed marriage license application form - Notarized by a Justice of the Peace.
- Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into Belize.
- Two of the parties must be in the country 4 days prior to filing the petition of the license. The day of arrival does not count.
- Copy of death certificate.
- If you are over the age of eighteen (18), no blood test is required and no parental consent is required. Proof of age on your passport or birth certificate is required.
Notes: Services are conducted by an ordained Minister or Priest or Justice of the Peace. You must have two
witnesses, either family, friends, hotel guests or staff. Our standard package pro-vides a daytime ceremony in a
private beach location.
The Government of Belize requires that you reside in Belize 4 business days before you can submit your
marriage application on the 4th business day. The day of arrival does not count. Holidays and weekends do not
count . To ensure a stress free wedding and ensure paperwork comes through, we suggest you plan on staying in Belize a minimum of one week. Once filled, the completed paperwork is ready the following business day. We can facilitate the paperwork for you. Ministers and Priests may conduct ceremonies in their respective churches or any other location you choose, traditional or otherwise. Many Ministers will officiate non-sectarian ceremonies and allow you to write your own vows. Registry Working day is Monday to Friday from 8AM – 5PM. The Registry is not open on statutory holidays.
