Getting married in Belize is easy. Here are some basic guidelines:

Requirements for Getting Married in Belize

REQUIREMENTS FOR A CIVIL or CHURCH WEDDING IN BELIZE

1. IF NEITHER OF THE PARTIES HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY MARRIED:
   • Fully completed marriage license application form - Notarized by a Justice of the Peace.
   • Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into Belize.
   • Both parties must be in the country 3 business days prior to filing the petition of the license. The day of arrival does not count.
     
2. IF EITHER PARTIES OR BOTH HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY MARRIED:
   • Fully completed marriage license application form - Notarized by a Justice of the Peace.
   • Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into Belize.
   • Both parties must be in the country 3 business days prior to filing the petition of the license. The day of arrival does not count.
   • A copy of the final divorce decrees.
3. IF EITHER OR BOTH PARTIES IS A WIDOW OR WIDOWER
   • Fully completed marriage license application form - Notarized by a Justice of the Peace.
   • Photocopy of front 2 pages of passport and page showing arrival date into Belize.
   • Both parties must be in the country 3 business days prior to filing the petition of the license. The day of arrival does not count.
   • Copy of death certificate.

If you are over the age of eighteen (18), no blood test is required and no parental consent is required. Proof of age on your passport or birth certificate is required.

Notes:
Services are conducted by an ordained Minister or Justice of the Peace. You must have two witnesses, either family, friends, hotel guests or staff. Our standard package provides a daytime ceremony, in your area of choice on property.

The Government of Belize requires that you reside in Belize 3 business days and can submit your marriage application on the fourth business day. The day of arrival does not count. The completed paperwork is ready the following business day. We can facilitate the paperwork for you. Ministers and Justices of the Peace may conduct ceremonies in their respective churches or any other location you choose, traditional or otherwise. Many Ministers will officiate non-sectarian ceremonies and allow you to write your own vows. Registry working days are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM — 5:00 PM. The Registry is not open on statutory holidays.

Considerations for Planning Your Wedding

• What will you wear? - Remember this is the tropics. Light clothing, simple make-up, insect repellent and non high heel shoes can make your day much more comfortable.
• Type of Ceremony - Religious or Non Denominational
• Number of guests - Do you have witnesses, or do you require Hamanasi to provide?
• Cake – will you want to do a ceremonial cake cutting after the ceremony and what type of cake will you want? Where would you like the cake set up?
• Photographer – Do you want professional photographer services?
• Champagne – Would you like a ceremonial toast after the ceremony?
• Meals – Will you be having a reception after the ceremony or will you require a private dinner set up? Do you require a private rehearsal dinner? Do you have any special meal requests or requirements that you need to inform Hamanasi of prior to your arrival.
• Extras - Do you want to add any of our special additions to the ceremony or your stay with Hamanasi?
• Payment - Hamanasi requires an advance deposit of 50% of anticipated revenue at the time of booking your wedding with full pre-payment due no later than 30 days prior to arrival. We do not offer refunds for cancellations made less than 30 days prior to arrival.
• Please remember you need to be in the Country at least 3 business days, not including your arrival day, prior to applying for a marriage license so it’s best to plan your stay in Belize for at least a week.

  This set up for two is and ideal way to enjoy dinner after your ceremony. Order off the standard menu if on a package, or have the chef custom create a menu for you (additional cost).

When you return to your room after dinner, what better way to treat your bride than to soft flower petals highlighting your freshly turned down plush cotton linens.

Enjoy a beautiful Caribbean sunset while cruising along the coastal waters of Hopkins and Sittee River in Hamanasi’s comfortable boat. See the local sites from the water’s edge and enjoy the skyline full of tropical colors! Price includes boat, private captain, 1-hour cruise for Bride and Groom, one bottle of champagne or one wine of your choice from our in-house selection, freshly-cut tropical fruits and finger-food basket.

(Boat can accommodate a total of 10 guests. Additional foods and beverages available for an extra charge.)

A professional tour guide will lead the way up a challenging hike through rainforest highlighted by beautiful waterfalls. Several natural water pools lend the opportunity for a private, refreshing dip and the view at the top goes all the way to the ocean. This hike is followed by a lovely picnic lunch with wine at the bottom by the river.

Delicious ethnic and standard favorite canapés (6 pcs per person) and our famous Rum Punch passed by our friendly staff to you and your guests for 1 hour, beach or pool side.
