Even in our beautiful corner of paradise, some of the plastics and other bits of trash that pollute our oceans make landfall on our beaches. As such, Hamanasi actively participates in area beach cleanups.

In October, members of Hamanasi’s Green Team in conjunction with Oceana, Scouts Belize and the Department of Youth Services conducted a beach clean up in Hopkins. Approximately 20 adults and 30 youths from the village of Hopkins participated. Together, they cleaned the beach in front of Catholic Church, which is across the street from the Hopkins school, as well as the beach north and south of the church grounds. Hamanasi donated biodegradable garbage bags and latex gloves.

“As a member of the Hopkins community, Hamanasi seeks to give back often,” said Seleem Chan, Hamanasi’s Sustainability Manager. “Beach cleanups are good for the village and the environment. We were thrilled to work with such dedicated community members and organizations.”

Hats off to Hamanasi employees, Danisha, Gariff, Jackie and Seleem, and all others who help keep Hopkins clean and beautiful!
