Marine Operations

At Hamanasi your safety is our number one priority. You will be in expert hands with the assistance of our PADI Instructors, Assistant Instructors, Divemasters and Belizean certified tour guides. We strictly abide by safe diving standards to insure that your dive or snorkel experience is fun and safe, from start to finish. We are a member of the PADI International Resort Association and meet the strict standards set by them as a PADI Dive Boat Operator.

  • A Belizean guide accompanies all snorkel trips and a PADI Instructor or Divemaster accompanies all dive trips.
  • Gear storage is available in the Hamanasi Adventure Center. Hamanasi staff carries all gear to and from the boats, assists with preparation and washes all equipment in fresh water every day. Hamanasi is not liable for missing or damaged equipment.
  • We do not accommodate non-diving passengers on our dive boat or non snorkeling passengers on our snorkeling boat. Depending on numbers and the weather, we may take snorkelers on our dive boat to South Water Caye where they will be dropped off with a guide to snorkel off the island.
  • The water temperature is 78 to 85 F degrees all year. A 3mm shorty or full wetsuit is recommended. Visibility varies depending on sites, current and weather – 40 to 100+ ft is normal.
  • The water can get choppy, especially outside the Barrier Reef. If the water is too rough we will not take out divers, snorkelers or anglers. Safety first!
  • We cannot control the weather! It may rain for days and days. There may be a hurricane. Rough water may make a trip take longer than planned. It could be unusually cold. Be prepared!
  • Things breakdown! We service our boats, engines, equipment and compressor regularly. Despite our strict maintenance schedule, things can break down (usually when we least want them to!). We do our best to fix quickly any problems and try to make alternate arrangements. Please be understanding and patient!
  • There is an incredible diversity of marine life in Belize. We hope guests will be able to see much of it. However, we can't promise a dolphin, shark, turtle, moray eel or any fish at all will swim in front of your eyes on every dive! Rest assured, they often do!
  • Keep your hands off! No divers or snorkelers are permitted to touch or take anything from the sea. No exceptions. If an individual refuses to abide by these rules we will not take them on our boats! Respect our Belizean Reef and her inhabitants. Touch only water! Take only pictures! Leave only your wake!
  • Let us know! If you have any problems or suggestions simply tell us. We welcome your feedback and want you to have a great trip.

All rates, policies and dive and snorkel excursions are subject to change without notice!

Hamanasi takes pride in having high quality boats and equipment. Our custom-made dive boats are designed for your safety and comfort.

To comply with PADI Standards we quarterly send air samples to be laboratory tested in the USA.

Part of our service to you is providing well-maintained good quality equipment so you will have a safe and comfortable dive. We also help with your personal equipment by rinsing it every day and storing it at our dive shop for no charge!
