Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort is a member of Pack of a Purpose. With items received through this program, Hamanasi’s Green Team was able to host its annual Hopkins Back to School Event in Hopkins Village.
Firstly, what is Pack for a Purpose? Pack for a Purpose is a small nonprofit organization whose mission is to positively impact communities around the world by assisting travelers who want to take meaningful contributions to the destinations they visit. Their goal is to assist travelers who want to say thank you or who simply want to expand their generosity beyond their own communities. Their website provides a supply list per destination, which is provided by the local community based projects that receive and use the supplies. With this information travelers can make an informed decision and take items that meet the needs of those who will be using them.
On July 21, 2017, approximately 130 children from the community of Hopkins attended Hamanasi’s Back to School Event. The morning was spent playing games with the children. They were separated into different groups and participated in the following games: sack race, marble and spoon, need and thread, running race, and mini drone obstacle course. At the end of all the fun and games, the children received an assortment of school supplies; these items ranged from pens, pencils, markers, glue sticks, composition books, sharpeners, erasers to many other school items. Attending the event were also about 7 parents who also received needed school supplies for the children.
We must thank all our guests who generously donated through Pack for a Purpose. A small space in each guest’s luggage does make a huge impact.
