On October 18th, Hamanasi celebrated a big silver anniversary.  For 25 years, Hamanasi Adventure & Dive Resort has been a trailblazer in regenerative hospitality — an approach that goes beyond sustainability to actively restoring and enriching the environment and communities it touches. Nestled between Belize’s lush rainforest and the azure Caribbean Sea, Hamanasi was founded on the belief that travel can be a powerful force for good. Every decision, from design to daily operations, has been guided by a deep respect for nature and a commitment to creating positive, lasting impacts.

Since opening its doors in 2000, Hamanasi has championed conservation through innovative practices that protect the reef and rainforest. The resort prioritized sustainable design, emphasizing energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction. Over the years, Hamanasi has continually evolved its operations — from implementing solar power and composting systems to sourcing local, organic ingredients for its restaurant. The resort’s on-site carpentry shop utilizes sustainably sourced wood to create beautiful furniture and fixtures, which are often refurbished to extend their life span. Wherever possible scrap wood is utilized, reflecting both craftsmanship and a circular approach to resource use.  Reforestation of the property has also brought about rewilding evidenced by the many animals and birds that call Hamanasi home.

But regenerative hospitality at Hamanasi extends far beyond the environment. For a quarter century, the resort has been deeply embedded in the Hopkins community, supporting education, local livelihoods, and cultural preservation. Through programs like the annual Backpack-to-School Drive, the Staff Education Fund, and internships for local youth, Hamanasi invests in the future of its neighbors. Guests are also invited to participate in initiatives such as tree planting, reef cleanups, and the Pack for a Purpose program, connecting them directly to the resort’s mission of giving back. Hamanasi’s commitment to regeneration is also reflected in its dedication to Belize’s natural heritage. The resort partners with conservation organizations and supports their work to protect wildlife and ecosystems. Each of the resort’s 30+ adventures, from diving and birdwatching to exploring ancient Maya sites and spelunking, is designed to educate visitors and foster a deeper appreciation for Belize’s biodiversity and culture.

As Hamanasi celebrates 25 years of regenerative hospitality, its journey is a testament to what’s possible when tourism and stewardship walk hand in hand. The resort’s story is one of renewal: of ecosystems revived, traditions honored, and communities empowered.

Looking ahead, Hamanasi remains committed to deepening its regenerative impact, ensuring that every guest experience continues to contribute to the wellbeing of Belize’s people and natural treasures, to foster positive human connections within thriving ecosystems, all while delivering vacations of a lifetime to our guests. After a quarter century of care, Hamanasi’s vision is stronger than ever: to foster positive human connections within thriving ecosystems.

THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU to all of our guests, employees, friends, community members and Belize for supporting us for 25 years!
