Sustainable Holiday Magic at Hamanasi

Bottle Christmas Tree

Each holiday season, Hamanasi Resort transforms everyday materials into extraordinary symbols of creativity, sustainability, and festive spirit. One of our traditions is the Glass Bottle Christmas Tree, crafted from wine bottles collected throughout the year from our bars.

This shimmering installation is far more than a festive decoration. It represents Hamanasi’s ongoing commitment to regenerative hospitality—finding beauty in what would otherwise be discarded, reducing waste, and inspiring guests and staff alike to think differently about their environmental impact.

The process begins long before the holidays arrive. Throughout the year, bar staff carefully set aside empty bottles, which are cleaned, sorted, and stored for their second life. As the festive season nears, the Hamanasi team assembles the tree; the result is a sparkling reminder that sustainability can be both beautiful and celebratory.

Complementing the glass tree are another beloved set of natural decorations: handcrafted reindeer made from organic yard waste such as fallen tree branches and twigs. Created by Hamanasi’s landscaping and carpentry teams, these charming figures bring a rustic, nature-inspired touch to the holiday display. Each reindeer highlights the resort’s dedication to repurposing what the land generously provides.

Like many other touches during this season, Hamanasi’s festive décor embodies our commitment to resourcefulness and environmental stewardship. We want to show our guests that holiday magic doesn’t require excess—just imagination, care for the planet, and a deep love for the beauty of Belize.
