Hopkins Village Tour on Bicycle

Hop on a bicycle and follow your local guide for a visit to laid back Hopkins, one of the centers of Belize's Garifuna culture, located just one mile north of Hamanasi.

This adventure will introduce you to the rich culture, history and traditions of this unique Garifuna fishing village. Accompanied by a native Garifuna guide you will visit the local drum maker, a gift shop, a Garifuna temple and many more spots of interest. Hopkins is now home to over 2000 people, and you also may meet locals from Mestizo, Maya and Creole ethnic groups. Immerse yourself in the Garifuna culture, and you'll soon see why Hopkins was voted Belize’s most friendly village!

Everyday, Hamanasi offers a barrier reef excursion and an inland excursion based on a preset schedule. These scheduled tours are included in package rates. Tours beyond the daily scheduled tours are not included in package rates but can be booked at the listed cost. All tours are accompanied by a licensed Belizean tour guide and include any permits needed. A PADI professional accompanies all dive trips. The grounds staff is very thorough and also would stop to ask how you day was. Very thoughtful touches in the room, the fudge, the shoe-cleaning kit, the turn-down service. We were very impressed by Hamanasi efforts to be a self-sustainable part of the community of Hopkins rather than a separate entity apart from the community.

Service is top flight; little or no room for improvement. We like how Hamanasi strives to be sustainable, all efforts are appreciated.

Impressed by the efforts hopefully it will become a practice from other areas of Belize soon!
